Baqs R and Dust have given one of Galway‘s Shop Street’s landmark premise a facelift. Since its closure, Taaffe’s, once an iconic shop had been painted a dull grey. Other than the odd drink fueled tag that popped up, the disused store had become a nasty focal point. The newly painted tribute to Taaffe’s is now the perfect backdrop for the street performances that will no doubt be enjoyed by the hordes of people who flock to Galway this summer.

In the last year or so, Limerick‘s Dock Road has been completely transformed. The long, drab, grey road had become a grave yard for petrol stations and the Celtic tiger did little in the way of architectural enhancement. However, thanks to a group of committed Limerick based graffiti artists, the city now has a new focal point in the most unlikely of places. From it’s modest beginning, Limerick‘s beautiful graffiti spot now is decorated with the letters of Ireland’s leading graffiti writers. Long may it last!

Galway recently played hoast to Baqs R and Crap’s fantastic graffiti exhibition in the Spanish Arch museum, but that wasn’t the only street art on show in ‘The City of the Tribes’ in February. Below is a collection of photos from around Galway, sent into IrishStreetArt.com that weekend.

‘BaqsR‘, ‘Crap’ and ‘Yer Wan’, with the support of Jame C. Harold (Galway City Arts Officer) and Margerat Nolan (Street Artist in Residence), will be displaying their art work at the Galway City Museum on February 20th from 3pm. After party in the Frontdoor Bar with MC Marcus Seóighe aka Johnny Stapleton from Ros na Rún and guest Speaker ‘Rask‘.
Whatever about the amazing work on show and words from the legenderay ‘Rask’, a chance to see a Ros na Rún character in the flesh should not be missed!
