Canvaz shared chapter one of ‘Alice, lost in a new Wonderland’ with IrishStreetArt.com this week. The concept collection stencilled throughout Dublin portrays a disillusioned Alice, “I wanted to build a series of pieces based on Alice in Wonderland and how quickly things go down hill”.
Canvaz will be painting in Galway and the UK in Southport and London this summer and he assures us that there will be ‘a few different kinds of things.’ on the horizon. For more of the same visit canvazstreet.com

The weekend saw tens of thousands braving the crazy weather conditions to march against how the government have facilitated an economic melt down while steering the country into an IMF bailout. Dublin is covered in anti government graffiti and some quite striking protest stencil work. Canvaz‘s piece above, was sent into us by the good people at Anewspace.

September: "Sometimes it’s hard to see the beauty all around you" - Canvaz

Over the past six months IrishStreetArt.com has been covering the regular installations at Noone Casey on Dame street, Dublin who have donated their office door to twelvedoors.com to use, abuse, deface and delight.

Twelve artists each control the door for 1 month. The Door Art is transient; each artist paints over the previous months work. “The work of twelvedoors.com will be complete when we conclude the twelfth artist in the twelfth month.” Artists to look forward to in the next six montha include: Tom Campbell, Jezabelle, Padhraig Nolan, Yvonne McMahon and Xπr. Below is a collection of the street art created to date.

This weekend sees a feast of street art at The Bernard Shaw. Friday night kicks off at 7 sharp with the Achieving Art Exhibition 2009 in Aid of Saplings (a school for children with Autism). The silent auction will host work from both Irish and International street/graffiti artists including Sums, Asbestos, Jor, Rask, Fink and Maser to name but a few.

Achieving-Art-Exhibition-2009

Saturday night, July 18th, Will St Ledger presents the second Antics Rogue Show. From Toejam: “The brain child of local Dail climbing art hooligan Will St Leger, the first installment took place as part of last year’s Fringe Festival. Its a simple idea: You turn up with your old painting/picture etc, hand it in, the artists are called in, they are given a piece at random, they go to work on it live with spray, stencil, marker, blood or whatever their favourite medium is and an hour later you have a one of a kind updated piece of art. At this point the hand goes out looking for donations and you pay what you think it’s worth with all money going to the artists themselves.

Artists confirmed for the event are Asbestos, Adam Crane, ADW, Shane, Canvaz, Will himself, Morgan and more to be confirmed.

The event starts at 6:30pm and we reccomend you get there by 6pm to submit your picture for vandalism and get your ticket.”

Gorilla By Canvaz

The stencil above is Canvaz’s ‘Gorilla’ on Ormond Quay in Dublin and was sent into us by Anewspace. At Anewspace their basic belief “is to make exciting art easily available in welcoming surrounding”. While the core of their business is art dealing, they promise “We are not flippers and try to invest in new Irish art as much as possible.” We think it’s well worth visiting their impressive gallery. Alternatively, for more information email them on mail@anewspace.info
