Visual Feast Productions presents ‘InsideOut’ the new title by Rua Meegan and Lauren Teeling. InsideOut follows on from 2010’s ‘A Visual Feast – Irish Street Art‘ and features a photographic collection of street art from around Ireland between 2010 and 2012. It features work and comments by Irish artists such as Conor Harrington, Maser, DMC and ADW as well as International artists D*Face, Shepard Fairey, Phlegm, Mark Jenkins and C215 to name a few. This book is a celebration of these artist’s pieces framed within the Irish landscape.
The ‘InsideOut’ book launch will take place in The Bernard Shaw, Dublin 2 this Thursday 13th from 7PM. There’ll be lots of live painting, with the lads from ThisGreedyPig DJing, mulled wine and drinks promotions.

Olde Norse – Conor Harrington 13 November 2012

‘Olde Norse’ sees London based Irish artist, Conor Harrington‘s visit to the far reaches of Norway this Summer. The video is the third collaboration between Harrington and cinematographer Andrew Telling. ‘I think this is by far our best film.’ Harrington explains ‘Pared back and super minimal [Telling] really captured the atmosphere of one of the most Northerly and isolated parts of Europe. This is one for the headphones, the music is composed and performed by both Andrew and Lucinda Chua. Watch the film for the music alone, I guarentee it’s worth it.’

Conor Harrington at Fame 2012 19 June 2012

Cork street artist, Conor Harrington was in the South of Italy recently to take part in the Fame Festival. ‘Fame’ is the Italian for hunger but Conor joked that he spent most of his time eating there.
The beautiful painting above is a called ‘Dead Meat’. On this ‘black and white biggie’ he tells us ‘I’m not sure how long this will last as we had no permission to paint it. Someone even called the police but Angelino sweet-talked them into allowing us finish, but I guess the fact that it’s on a kiddie school and I painted 2 nude women could be a bit of a problem…’ For a more complete account of Conor‘s work at the Fame Festival visit his blog, ConorSaysBoom.

Black Herds of The Rain is a film documenting Conor Harrington‘s trip home to Ireland in the summer of 2011 to paint 3 walls. The journey and subsequent paintings are inspired by Austin Clarke’s poem The Lost Heifer.

Dublin Contemporary 2011 has collaborated with ANewSpace to commission internationally renowned street artists to create in twentytwo urban sites all over Dublin city centre. ‘Roadworks‘ includes artists such as Conor Harrington, D*Face, DMC, ESCIF, Foes Crew, InputOut, Jor, Mark Jenkins, Maser, Morgan, Prefab Collective, Will Saint Leger and Rask. Taking place from now until the end of October there has never been a better time to visit the streets of the capital and this is a testament to the hard work by the guys at ANewSpace.
Highlights so far include DMC‘s Call Girls on St Andrews Lane, Jor‘s Tree at Green Nineteen and Rask (Godfather of Irish Graffiti) in the National Gallery of Ireland. To keep up to date with all the latest happenings at ‘Roadworks‘ visit ANewSpace on Tumblr.

Conor Harrington Back in Ireland 28 June 2011

Conor Harrington is one of the most ambitious and open artists to emerge from Ireland in recent years, with a deep respect for urban street and art culture. The good news is that he is back in Ireland and has already been painting in the capital last weekend. The great people at ANewSpace covered Conor Harrington‘s beautiful painting in Temple Bar in Dublin city centre and by all accounts it was an incredible spectical. Read more here »
The renowned street artist will also be taking part in the Ennis Street Festival, painting another original piece on the Glór building this coming Friday, July 1st.
Conor is originally from Cork, but is currently based in London. His work is an incredibly successful collusion between ‘fine’ art and ‘street’ techniques. According to Conor himself, central to his oil canvasses is “the male figure, referring to the masculinity of urban culture”. The men in Conor‘s paintings allude to the not necessarily heroic, but stoic and pensive male of the modernist painters; however the pieces are plastered with post-modern graffito flourishes in a pertinent clash of styles – “I’m interested in the dynamics between opposing elements” says the artist. Whilst both the male figures and abstract elements of the work are, with out doubt, contemporary, the emotions they transmit are timeless, if currently under-rated – dignity, courage and a quiet sense of duty to oneself and those around us. At a time when men are accused of being somehow redundant within society Conor‘s work is an intelligent and modest reminder of their positive emotional contribution. It also shows that graff doesn’t have to shock – or be soppy – to have substance.
The Clare Youth Service Music Project will be providing a musical backdrop to Conor‘s painting on the day, showcasing some of the young talent amongst the local DJs, producers and rappers in the Clare area. There will also be a breakdancing showcase by Cork based crew The Rhythm Rebels, hosts of the recent Livestylez festival. The Rhythm Rebels are Munster’s most active breakdancing group, taking part in national and international showcases and competitions and acting as one of the main promoters of hiphop culture in Ireland. This event will take place outside the Glór building and will allow the audience to sample both the audio and visual experience of street culture being presented.
The evening’s entertainment is free and open to people of all ages, and in keeping with all CYS events, will be a drug and alcohol free environment.
The event will run from 4pm until 8pm outside Glór, Ennis.

ANewSpace present ‘Despite Your Face. This ambitious project consists of Irish and international Street Art from the Dublin Area. An opening party will take place on Culture Night, Friday the 24th of September from 6pm and the exhibition will continue until Sunday the 3rd of October at ANewSpace Gallery Boutique, 6 Chatham Street Dublin 2.
Featuring Works by: ADW, Asbestos, Canvaz, Cisto, Conor Harrington, Cool-C, DBC, Eine, Eelus, Karma, Loki, Morgan, Solus Splink(i love lamp), Will St Leger, Xpir and more to be announced
This collection hopes to present Irish and International street art in the Dublin area. It is by no means a complete overview (as the scene is far bigger then anyone can imagine) but instead is a snap shot of an underground existing in Irish society.
The exhibition is made up of a gallery show at Anewspace and special commission outdoor pieces. The first by ADW was completed on Sunday at Dame Lane, Dublin.
